I have had the Lakeshore/ebony since December last year, and it really doesn't have a significant purple hue.
Pictures 1 and 2 above are what to expect most of the time. In darker conditions, it tends to look darker and with a blue/gray look, as shown in picture 1. When the sun shines on it, it tends to go to a silver/gray look, shown in figure 2.
The picture in the gas station is really misleading. If you look at the reflection of the light in the windscreen it already looks purple, which exaggerates the purple hue given to the car. While there can be the hint of purple under the right conditions, it is nothing like the gas station picture. Take a look at the rear end of the car in picture 5...the one in the woodsy area...this kinda shows a "typical" purple hue.
