nice mod, i did this in my old tl, did the zkw and shield cut off, know i want to do it to the rl but i see that the cut off is already great on my rl, yet the lense looks haze like all oem does except the tsx, are you using the tsx lense, because the zkw's dont fit because they are 3' and ours is like 1-2' idk, all i know its like the tsx. i want to do dual projectors and remove the DRL, but yet havent found the way will soon, and sorry for thread stealing on that idea. Ill start a new thread on this when i get to it.
quick question, to all even OP, have you guys notice when driving, and i know this was said before, but is it me ore is the projector loose, because when you hit a bump or a hump, lol. but do they flicker or is it the projector that moves the bulb or shield. let me know. if you found that it was loose, meaning when you opened the headlights. and pics please on the end result.

Nope. i have a huge pile of HID parts sitting at my house i do alot of retrofits for customers. But TSX lens does not do well with the RL projector, Neither does the S2000 lens. Best one i got to use is my Kia lens i actually got these from some body shop 4-5 years ago the guy just gave them to me.
There is very minor play on the projector side to side for the AFS. there is no vertical up or down play. If you open up the housings there is a spring on top of the projector to apply pressure to the projector assembly so it assist the AFS motor in its movements

well here is some of the work that i have done. I sat down and tested alot of different lenses, different bulbs. Lens Spacing, Bulb spacing. i sat outside for 4 hours doing this in the dark with a flash light. Ill post more tomm. I got to get some sleep tonight
Here is everything that is stock. Factory GE bulbs, Factory Ballast, Factory Lens, No spacing whats so every
Shot on the side of my Garage. Distance from wall to projector 37 feet 5 inches, garage width is 29 feet 10 inches.
Both were shot with Canon EOS 5D MKII, 24-70 F2.8L, ISO 100, Shutter 2.5 sec. Aperture F/7.1 WB set to 4300K on the camera
Here is my Favorite result for my taste. My Kia Clear Lens, 1 lens spacer, 1 bulb spacer, 50W Ballast, Osram CBI 5000K bulbs

cant see the pic, but i have to say i thought tsx would fit guess not. is the kia lense clear? also what did you use for the spacing. and 50w ballast how does it fit on the headlight or did you seal the whole the ballast sits on?
and would like to see pics for L's Rl, see that name hasnt changed from tl. lol.
i want to do a mod my self on these lights as ur opinion as well, and please forgive me dont mean to take your thread or maybe ill do it on another thread you let me know. i was planing on doing audi type leds where the blinker is and do the switch back on there it would look like this but where the blinker is

carbon legend did you see when you removed the headlights if where the high beam a retrofitted projector will work as quad projector?

Yes there is room to retrofit a projector in the high beam area. But Limited. it would have to be a small projector. FX-R seems like the best selection to sqeeze in there.

don't mean to jack this thread just had a quick question on where to adjust the height/angle of the headlight. my headlights are pointing down and i wanted to adjust it to point it a little higher. someone told me i couldn't adjust it cause it was all computerized and i wanted to know if i could or not on the headlights before taking off my bumper and everything

Lights are great on the road. i will get a video once the weather clears up out here lots of rain and fog at night.
Diablo yes you can do vertical adjustments to your headlights. park your Vehicle on a level surface 25 feet from a wall. Measure from the ground to the alignment dot on the housing. Now measure to the top of the cutoff line. it should be the same as the alignment dot.
the adjustment screw is located here for the headlights

OK so here is the lighting situation for the moment i got new changes coming already.
Setup is OEM RL with Kia Clear Lens 55w ballast (48W actual power) With Osram CBI 5000k Bulbs
Foglights are ford fusion foglights with older 35W ballast H11 5k bulbs
Here is a video of the lights in action. i do hit the high beams a couple times but they were not that effective against the upgrade

dam, that look amazing. congrats on the attempt on this mod, most people are scared to do this. the fogs look a little off color from headlights, but its mostly cause the 55w on low beam, did you use a relay for the fogs? also how did you mount the 55watt ballast?
when you custom made the shield did you bend it backwards or forwards to make it sharp? will attempt when retro fitting the leds.
Hey are the kia projector lens clear?
also to adjust vertically, have you notice like a clear plastic cover that wont let you adjust, does anyone know why that is? because when i have the height right, i have notice it going into a slanted position.

Im guessing the Color differences could be 1 of 2 things. angle of the image (different angles can give different flicker/color effects) or its the H1 (Non OEM Bulb) compared to the Osram CBI (OEM Quality)....
The 55W Ballast are mounted in the factory location uses all factory connectors.
I did not make a shield i left the factory shield in. i tried to make my own but there is too much play with the way it mounts up and i could see the sheild shifting over time.
Yes the Kia Lenses are really clear. I do not know what model they came off of. I got these over 5 years ago for free from a dealership throwing them away.
I adjusted my headlights just fine with a phillips screwdriver. the slight tilt could be just the angle of the car or angle of a wall playing tricks with your eye.

It is to be inconsiderate to the oncoming drivers. Just about every riced pocket-rocket out there has headlights to piss off everybody else, it is a shame that the RL is starting to join that catagory.

This modification Increases light output. The light is controlled. The color that you see is called FLICKER. almost all cars with factory HID's Have flicker. There is no Glare with my lights. No one flashes me
Ive been Doing HID retrofits and modifying HID projectors for over 7 years. I know what to do. Why don't you try to go find another thread to troll

wow its amazing how ppl get flustered and try to make comments on ppl thread sharing what they did to improve there lighting system or even mod as they wish. if you are going to say what is the point of this mod, why have an account with azine, when your here to get ideas or say, " nice job, not my thing but looks good for your tase", " goes with your car but not for me" , or just not say anything at all and leave ppls thread alone. if you dont like it or not finding the point of this mod, ask but dont go on and saying it looks like another riced car with modded headlights that piss ppl off. you do know that hids no matter what angle direction or modification will get ppls attention and may bother them that dont have these lights. and yes carbon you are correct it does increase lighting performance .

i have around $390 in the headlights. the current bulbs are going for $190 a pair. ballast $120. Clear lenses i got for free but would guess about $50-70. plus all shipping cost.
Labor wise it depends if you pull the headlights your self or if you have someone do it.
Foglights i have about 3-4 hours figuring out the positioning. $120 for the fogs them selves, $50 for bulbs, $120 for ballast

Obviously you have no idea about increasing the performance of your lighting system.

Hopefully you can tell that he isn't being serious. 23109 & db, I suppose you did not see the pictures that were posted in post #13. Carbon, what happened to these pics?
Although the stock HIDs are plenty good for most everyone, especially those coming from halogens, the setup that Carbon has implemented has a much sharper cut off and almost 50% more power output, although I do not know how power translates to lumens exactly. Therefore, he is getting more light while also improving his cutoff line. db, an HID bulb installed without a lens, or an improperly installed lens, is illegal as it should be. However, what Carbon has done should be no more of a nuisance to oncoming drivers than your stock low beams.
I'm sure there is some color change that I missed, but I don't know what it is.
