Like neuronbob, another "So long RL" thread...

I picked up an Audi A8L today to replace my '05RL with 96K miles. Has the usual gizmos/gadgets, and the MMI is pretty straightforward. Drives very much like the RL... but a bit fasterhttps://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif with a 350 hp V-8. Will still visit here often, the audiworld site is nowhere as good, at least for this Audi model. We'll see about reliability. The '05 had a lot of TSBs, but except for an A/C failure (fixed under warranty), has no problems except for the whine from the transmission the dealer can seemingly not reproduce, a future rather expensive repair since car is out of warranty. Not to mention the 105K service for a car that probably isn't worth more than 11K according to Galves. When the weather finally warms up, I can do a complete detail on the Audi, but for now, it looks great.

Congrats on the A8. I love all the new Audis. Just afraid of their reliability. Hopefully yours treats you well.

+1 I love Audis or any other German car for that matter but am reluctant to buy one as a daily driver for that very reason, reliability.

Thanks for the well wishes. If the Audi isn't reliable, the 2010 RL is not that far off. I just couldn't wait any longer. I hope Acura gets its act together–soon.

audi a6

Got me looking around at a6's now but they charge for every little item in the car and I don't think reliablity (especially after 100K miles is)

Just had a friend turn in his 06 Audi A6 for a loaded new Accord due to the endless little problems with the Audi. It got to the point where he had a list of issues at every service visit. He, like myself, am picky over things such as door creaking, dash noise, etc. Then there were more severe items such as idle, trans, door windows, etc. He was bummed as he spend some time locating the right color combo as the dealer was little help. This was his second Audi, his first was a Quattro that was loyal to him.
My last Audi-a 5000 turbo burned to the ground. Air filter housing is right above the turbo unit. That was years ago of course and I like their current styling and lineup. Interior is top notch material. Best of luck on yours.

Audi Q7 - excellent reliability

I have had the Audi Q7 since Dec of 06 and the reliability has been excellent. The only warranty repair was the Blind Spot Monitor system module failure... that's about it.

A8 Not a bad choice at all. Congrats on the move. You must drive a lot to have 96k miles on your RL.

I love the A8L. Very nice ride, but I know I will never be able to afford it. Keep checking in with us....and do a comparo with the RL. I understand the A8 is mostly aluminum?

Ready to sell my a4 cabriolet quattro - 2004. Great car, fun to drive but it is a reliability nightmare. Always something wrong.

I owned (2) Audi's prior to getting the RL and agree there are some reliability issues, but not enough where I wouldn't buy from Audi in the future. Very fun to drive (S4) and excellent interior materials and layout. The A4 throttle stuck while on the way home from work in sub zero weather and travelling down a crowded turnpike. A white knuckle drive home to say the least. Other than that, mostly predictable repairs. Good luck!

Nice buy, those A8L's are sooo nice.

Offtopic: Audizine is a pretty decent site, it's a lot like this one..
