Talking The Legend/RL in Japan ~!

I love the way the Legend guys get together to have meets. The car is not too popular in Japan either, but these guys will drive 150 miles or more just to attend a meet. Usually they chit chat a bit and then it's off to get some lunch. Followed by a nice drive together through the twisty mountains. When asked when I was going to join them, I told them I was with them in spirit LOL. Most of them as you can see love modding there car's and have been a big inspiration to me and many others.

Acura is going to be official in Japan soon, so many have already taken the step to convert there Legends to RL's. Two members recently got US spec RL headlight, which was a big thing there. One of them even tuned his suspension using custom made to order parts. Now that's hardcore!. These guys are truly the pioneers.

Nice! Although I like the Acura grill more than the Honda grill.

those are some very nice looking RLs/Legends. I find it interesting that people here would make their RLs into Legends, while people in Japan would do the exact opposite.

Yeah I agree the Acura grill is better but overall those are some very nice looking cars.

I am surprised to learn that the Legend is unpopular in Japan, with all the tech in it. Why do you think that is, Touge? It can't be the marketing, the ads I've seen for it blow away the Acura RL ads here in the States.

In any case, those are some hot Legends.

Higher gas prices, hefty taxes and the car is not discounted there like here. The honda ads though I agree are way superior. The one's with phantom of the opera music background are really nice and so is the slogan - honda, the power of dreams.

You know, I'm surprised someone hasn't organized some sort of swap website, since people in the states want the "Legend" look and some Japanese owners want the "RL" look. A straight "one for one" parts exchange like Headlights or grills(if possible) would be a win/win for both parties, and it would be FREE except for shipping costs.

We need to invite the Japanese Legend owners to Acurazine. Do any of them speak English? Better than a parts exchange would be a cultural exchange. I'm interested in learning what makes these guys interested in the Legend.

I'm also interested in joining Minkara (Japanese car forum site for those who don't know) but don't speak any Japanese. I have to depend on Babelfish and Google to translate for me.

I think it's just to protect the person's privacy.

Bob, most of them can understand English when written, but it takes them longer to understand it since they don't use English daily. They all know about this site btw.

Minkara though is a very cool site, it's like a myspace/carster in one and I've developed some close friendships there.

I like the Legend grill better.

There's a unique-looking grill on one of the black cars. It's difficult to see because of the distance, but it almost looks like the Acura grill with the horizontal slits painted black. I actually considered painting mine but was afraid it might not look good.

If anyone has a close-up of that grill, I'd love to see it.

Does that RL have the sensory device where it can track if you're drifting to one side and then compensate for it? I know the Legend has it.

Interesting thing I just noticed from the pics, the JDM Legend's mostly do not have sunroof's.

I didn't pick up on that! Again, I wonder why that is. I'm sure Japanese are just as enamored of moonroofs as are Americans for cars that are luxury-oriented.

I also like the Legend grille better. It also fits the current Acura corporate identity better than the current grille. If someone finds a way to put our "A" logo neatly onto a Legend grille, I'm so there.
