Legend Max
Legend Max
Not sure if its a repost,...http://www.mugen-power.com/topics/le...501/index.html

Yup, repost, but still good-looking and I wish Acura would import and sell it as a Mugen RL-S. I would consider trading up for that extra power.
All the body kit, wheels and exhaust parts are available from Japan, but not the engine.
The last time I calculated, the cost for the parts alone was a bit over $7k.

The legend max by mugen is a different car from the above car. Unfortunately that kit in the pictures is not available to the public, otherwise I would def have it on my car. This the way a RL Type S should look.

Anybody else notice the engine layout? Longitudinally mounted as opposed to transverse which is how it is in the production cars?
First off, Longitudinally mounted would further bring the weight distribution to 50/50. It probably also facilitate a RWD version. The current layout would facilitated a FWD version.

The previous RL had a longitudinally mounted engine which I always found amusing for a FWDer.

Not so amusing really. Mounting the engine longitudinally shifts more weight rearward to lessen the nose heavy characteristics of a FWD car. I can personally attest that the Vigor was a pretty sweet handling car, but in the end it still is what it is. A FWD car.
I still love driving my 95 Legend, until I get into my 06 RL.
I always thought the design was ripe for awd, with a longitudinal engine, but that never happened. I thought Honda was going to be the next Audi with its Vigor and Legend designs, and the followon 1st Gen TL which seemed to be shortened Legend chassis. The longitudinal format also got rid of torque steer. I think in the end, awd was too expensive for a car with rapidly declining sales in face of the Lexus Infiniti challenge.
The longitudinal design had some disadvantages also, pushing the engine and transmission back a bit farther into the cockpit, making for a larger center console hump. The design is a little complex also, requiring you to drop the transmission if you had to drop the oil pan for any reason (like those annoying leaking gaskets) equating to high maintenance expenses.

That's why I find it amusing. You know some thought went into that which was never realized.
