"Keyless remote not found" while in car

Twice in the past couple of days I have been in the car with it idling and the dash started flashing "keyless remote not found". It happened both times (I'm pretty sure) right after I opened the car door, but I did not get out of the car. I shut the car off and was able to restart with no problem. Any idea what could be going on? We only have the one remote for the car at this point.

Any chance the fob is near a phone or electronic device? Does the car have a charger plugged into the 12V plug? Any of these things can cause enough interference to drop the signal.

Agree. Happen to me a couple of times when the key fob was behind my cell phone in my pocket. The other possibility is the battery going bad. I have had two batteries go bad on my 2007 and 2010 and both times the electronics really goes wacky. No XM, low oil flashing etc...

The battery seems perfectly logical, I should have tried that before posting. I just opened my remote and it has two different batteries, 2032 and 2025. Hmmm. Pretty sure I have some 2032s in my desk at home if that's the correct one.

I think he meant car battery, but the fob battery makes sense too...

The car battery was replaced at the dealership in August. I'd hope it's still good.

That's probably not the issue. It's most likely interference or fob batteries although the car usually tells you when fob batteries are low. Next time it happens, move the fob to a place away from anything electronic including the 12V accessory plug. See if that makes the message go away.

Sounds like a good tip, I hadn't considered interference. I have kept a phone charger plugged into the console for the past couple of months and only this weekend has the message appeared.

Given that an antenna's signal strength is directly affect by battery power, I would venture to say if the batteries are low, the signal would have more trouble overcoming the interference. You could replace the batteries, but that may just mask the issue.
