Keyfob became unpaired on 2006 RL!
I was changing the batteries on the keyfob and the "panic" insert became jammed, causing the car to alarm. Maybe the lock/unlock buttons kept pressing, causing the fob to "unpair". I fixed the plastic part from jamming the buttons, but now the car won't respond to the FOB at all. The red light flashed 8 or so times every time I push a button.
I tried the "press both lock and unlock until red light flashes twice" routine but it won't flash twice and pair. I've tried the "turn ignition to II then I four times" thing also.
I hope I don't have to pay Acura to re-pair with an HDS computer? Any ideas?

Yes that's the "press both lock and unlock until red light flashes twice" routine. I think that only links to DPMS seat memory and wheel position etc. I can't unlock the doors.

As a sanity check, I would try to reset the car electronics via the battery. Disconnect both cables from the battery and hold them together for ~15 seconds. Make sure you have your radio and navi codes first though.

Problem solved. I knew an original keyfob should not lose its programming. When the fob is disassembled for battery replacement, it is easy to lose fit in the plastic/rubber grommet and pushbuttons. When I carefully re-installed all of the fob inner fittings, it now works.
