I bought this from an eBay auction as a 05-08 RL Wood Steering Wheel taken from a 2008 RL.

The pictures weren't great, so I emailed the seller to verify that the leather color was gray (taupe) but didn't give a second thought to the color of the wood since I have never seen any option. As you can see from the pictures, it's not even close to the match of the wood in my 07 RL. Also, the "frame / harness" of the wheel is different - metal instead of plastic.

If it's truly not an RL wheel, or from an 08, I can return it as not being as described. If it is indeed an RL wheel with some weird color option I've never seen, I guess I'm out of luck.

Ideas?

You can also have it entirely wrapped in new perforated leather and have a sport wheel.

 

I had considered keeping it for the buttons only or having it wrapped. However, after examining it further I found a substantial amount of corrosion, rust, and dirt on the internal structure and electrical connectors that gave me concern about their reliability. Looks like the innards had been exposed to the elements for a time.

 

Too bad you dont have the black woodgrain, that would sure look good!
