So i misplaced my key fob and have to use my back up key but i havent used it in over a year. It does not respond to my car. When i press the button the fob blinks 5 times then nothing. I have to actually use the key to get in the car and start it(after not using my key for 3 years this is becoming such a hassle, the RL has spoiled me). How can i go about gettin my key to respond to my car again. Do i really have to take it to the dealer for such a simple problem. Battery seems fine, i just havent used the fob in a year. Is it normal for it to not work with the car anymore?

 

Replace battery in FOB?
I was thinking it got delinked, but I think the FOB still unlocks if it is delinked. Try the relink procedure - should be on the back of the FOB.
