jerky transmission (thumps into gear)

My 07 rl has about 30k miles and lately I noticed it has been dropping into lower gear really hard. If I stop at a light and it shifts from 2nd to 1st, it drops in really rough.. not sure why but even other times I have noticed when the tranny is going from an upper gear to a lower gear it clunks into the lower gear with a thud so I can feel it. It usually is smooth, and it is not consistent, so I am not sure if there is any real problem.

( 05 34k )I have started to experience the hard drop from 2nd into 1st lately myself when coming to a stop. Like yours it is not consistent so I know for sure if I take it to the dealer it will not do it while it is there.
Has anyone else had this type of issue?

(’06 almost 40K) I have been experiencing the same problem. I wonder if I need a transmission oil flush. What do you guys think?

Let the dealer check it out under warranty.

That is a given...but it is also a given that I could leave it at the dealer for a week and it wont do it once. Just trying to find out if anyone had this issue and had it resolved already.

Let me give you my experience:

I have an 06 w/ 18k. My daily commute is about 12 miles one way. Lots of stop and go along with hard pulls up the mountain. (I love pounding this car up the mountain and through the turns).

In the last several thousand miles the transmission started getting "jerky". Rather than have to leave the car with the dealer with a limited possibility of them identifying the problem, I just opted to have my transmission fluid flushed. It was ~$150. But made a significant improvement in the way the transmission responded and the way it shifted.

Prior to having the flush done I did inspect the fluid and it wasn't really discolored and didn't have an abnormal odor. But since it was under $200 to have it changed and, considering the nature of my commute, I figured it was worth it - and it definitely was worth it.
