Issues with headlights

Hey guys first off I wanna say this has been a very nice site with a lot of information.

I bought a 2005 rl last year and it has been working fine so far but I have noticed sometimes when I turn the headlights on they actually don't come on or only the drivers side one will come on. It happens very randomly and I was wondering what could cause that. If anyone could chime in that would be great. Thanks and I love the site.

Thanks.

Do a search for headlight flickering. it's either the bulbs or the ballast. Either one costs approx. $700 to fix at dealer. HID bulbs and ballast are both approx $200 each at dealer just for the part. If it's the bulbs change em both at the same time. You have to take the bumper off. It really is easy. I DIY'd my ballast for$200 dealer wanted $700.

^^^To add. to check if it's the bulbs... swap em out driver side to paseenger and passenger to driver. If the outage/flicker follows the bulb it's the bulb. Again you have to take the bumper off. Even though it's easy to do have some spare plastic push pins available. A few will break when you remove them to take the bumper off. Remove one and take to NAPA etc. and go ahead and buy at least 10 of them.

Your quick Steve!

I was just gonna suggest a "search" but you beat me to it! But great advice, hid bulbs, inverters, ballast are the main case of flickering or temperate dead headlight.

I will update my thread; as the dealer replace both the inverters/ballast under warranty and i end up upgrading to new 6000k HID bulbs (just in case it was the bulbs too).

Not as quick as you. I just happened to be on at the time. See thread on headlights low/high. I'd like to hear your thoughts.
