Interior Question For Y'all

Alright so I noticed on my buttons on my steering wheel, has a rubber like coating peeling from the buttons. The illustration on the buttons are coming off with it. I notice that this finish gives the buttons a matte finish but once you've peeled off this finish it leaves it with a shine somewhat. So my question is who all has peeled off this finish, because mine has this coating peeling off of alot of my buttons I use very often.
What did you use to peel it off?

i have peeled the soft touch coating off of most buttons at this point and they look much better. just used my finger nail and some patience. buffed the buttons with a cloth once the coating was gone.

That's what I did with the voice recognition button and back button on the steering wheel lol, thinking about going out there tomorrow and just do all the buttons, did you do it to the radio/nav/hvac buttons as well?

bought mine with about 99k miles and for some reason all the center console buttons look perfect. i peeled all the buttons on the face of the steering wheel which were pretty chewed up. then the trunk and gas lid release buttons. then the side mirror adjustment button. those were the worst of them.

That's pretty much the case with mine, there's only a couple on the dash that are a little messed up but not so much to the extent where I need to peel off all the coating on the buttons. I'll probably just do the steering wheel, trunk and gas lid release buttons like you did. Almost wonder if there's something I can use to help make peeling them off easier.

just don't use anything too sharp/hard/harsh or else you'll scratch the button under the coating. then you are back to square one....

I just wondered if it might be possible to re-coat them with something like Plastidip?

Anyone tried?

Took off the coating today, simply peeled it off with my fingernail and used 3m adhesive remover to removal the adhesive from the coating.

I think this is a nice idea. I might try it in my spare time.
