I think it's the opposite. You must have a super RL if you consistently get 30MPG going through mountains maintaining 70. Reading most people's comments, they seem to be more in-line with my 20MPG combined. Maybe you have some special fuel up there in Canada or something is lost in the conversion.

The best proof of this fact is that the official EPA rating is 16 City, 24 Highway with 19 Combined. If Acura could get 30MPG at 70, there is no way these numbers would be on the EPA sticker. As we all know, if anything, even the EPA numbers are optimistic for real world driving conditions.

^You also have to factor in that those are average values on the sticker. If you look closely, there is a range of values right below the big bold character.

Very true... but 30 is even beyond the HIGH point of the highway range below the bold number.

Point taken, I wasn't sure what those values were

Even over a similarly priced Impreza sedan? (Keep in mind, snowy New England weather.)

What about a 5th Gen Legacy? Flagship sedan, AWD, optional sport, and large aftermarket selection.

I would love a 5th Gen Legacy, but I believe those are way out of my price range.

Sorry for double-posting, but I couldn't find an edit button.

The 09 Legacy can be had between $10-14k, that is actually within my budget and haggling range.

Im guessing with some persistant searching, I could dig up a 2010 (5th Gen) and possibly get it down to $11 (might be far fetched, but worth a shot.)

That explains it, I must have missed that window. Good to know for sure!

For what it's worth, I have gotten a little better than 30 mpg occasionally on a long flat highway trip. I was driving in the northeast on a lucky day without much traffic, doing only 65 mph in the right lane, realizing that I would have to pay tolls every thirty miles or so.

Speeding makes no sense when you see the drivers who have been screaming past you stuck in the toll lanes, also. Once I figured that out, it has been much more relaxing driving at the speed limit, enjoying the audio system and the car's luxury.
