Interchangeable Grills

I was wondering how feesible it would be to design a car that offered 4 or 5 different grill options (of course I am alluding to the 2009 maw) for a given model. I wouldn't think designing a housing would be difficult to accept the preffered grill and the choices would appeal to a larger clientele.
No tranformer jokes here, I'm just talking the grill.

This is an option that Dick Colliver should latch onto and do so quickly.

Lets face it, either you like the new grill, or you don't...my guess is that you won't like it.

Infact over 90% of us say no to the new 09 grill. It may make us not buy the car.

Offering grill options would be a low cost savior of the 09 RL.

Nope, they would have to lower the hoodline until it's even, and make all four headlights the same shape in order for me to consider it.

Something I've noticed in the Lexus Forums is that they have a lot more 'Mods' for their cars... (acutally I think it's just a population of younger buyer who likes big wheels, lowered cars..bling <is that still a word?> ) Anyway.. my point is that, I've seen a BUNCH of aftermarket grills on their cars...so they musn't be too hard to change out. Now we just need someone to manufacture them, knowing that the typical owner isn't going to 'pimp' their ride.

One reason a manufacturers avoid interchangeable parts is to foster that appearance of popularity. When the (hideous) Chrysler 300c first showed up they (at least around here) were sufficiently different that you noticed every one you saw and sufficiently common that you thought "gee, a lot of folks bought that". If everyone's able to easily and radically alter the look of their vehicle you might get the "that looks notable" a lot but you won't get the "gee, lots of those this season".
