Intake Options

Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered as I suspect.

Just curious as I'm getting ready to order some parts before I head off on vacation.

My question is are the Short Ram or CAI options from the 3rd or 4th gen TL compatible with our RLs? If so Do you need to mod them in any way to make it work?

What other parts are swappable from the TL-SHAWD

My apologies I have 3 searches going and got taken down a rabbit hole looking at other topics and didn't see a flashing light when I searched this topic very briefly I can admit.

All info shared is appreciated.

Thanks

You do realize your car came with a factory CAI, don't you?

I understand you’re being facetious. And you know I meant removing the intake box and tubes to put in a cone filter and pipes.

No, I wasn't being the least bit facetious; the only thing an aftermarket CAI will give you over the factory CAI is more noise (and probably more dirt from the cone filter).

But it seemed like the OP is asking if it's ok to source them from a TL, not the aftermarket.

I'm not a mechanic though i most probably have no idea what that subject matter even looks like!

With minimal fiddling, the K&N short ram from a TL will fit. At least it did on a 2007 RL. I'm going to try a proper CAI on my 2011. Purely for noise.
