Installed NAVTOOL now can't input Nav Code

Installed NAVTOOL now can't input Nav Code
So I installed the NAVTOOL with hdmi mirrowing. They said it was plug and play but it required me to attach a ground and tap into power. I grounded it to the Nav unit and tapped off the Orange wire for the nav for power. It is booting up but now I can't use the knob to input the Nav code. I can't get to the diagnostic screen either.
