igniter, ballast, or bulb?

How do I definitively determine if the cause of my headlight flicker is the igniter, ballast, or even the bulb?

the problem i'm having appears to be with maintaining the stream of electricity. When I turn on the lights, about 30 seconds in it starts to flicker rapidly, its only noticable when i'm in the garage or staring at the light on another cars bumper or something. Other than that it's imperceptable while driving.

I'ave also discovered that my sunroof switch isn't working as it should. It opens and closes, but the tilt feature won't work unless I keep pushing the swtich in the close position, then it doesn't close, it opens the tilt. So it never stops in the closed position. I had to guesstimate where the closed position was in order to make sure rain didn't leak in or something.

I'm going to the dealer today for just routine maintenance and will have them look at both these issues. You guys have been a wealth of information and so has the search button ^^

I have experienced a headlight flicker, although it was more intermittent - usually during driving. The bulb was replaced under warranty; no questions asked.
