How sensitive is the AWD transfer case to mismatch tires?

Hello all.......I know that generally AWD systems do not do well with mismatch tires. I just bought my 06 with 2 mich on the front and 2 Conti's on the rear.......yes same size...and yes about the same wear. Should I just run these tires or get on the hunt for a budget busting new set of tires?

Thanks

It wont hurt anything, especially if you arent driving aggressively.

This.

Some AWD cars have warnings in the manual about making sure tyres are matched - but the RL isn't one of them.

The SH-AWD actually tolerate mismatch tires really well. After looking service manual, owner manual and conversation with multiple Acura dealer across USA and they claimed mismatch tires (different wear) isn't something the factory worry about (unlike other manufacture e.g Audi, Subaru). May be the smart computer in SH-AWD help to calculate and deliver power to different part of the car....

Just checking in to agree with the others. A system like the CR-V or RDX engages the rear wheels only when a front tire spins. SH-AWD as on the RL (the newest MDX and RLX SH-AWD is entirely different) is a more sophisticated system that's apportioning power to all four wheels continuously through electromechanical clutches based on a much greater variety of factors, including what it can deduce from steering wheel position and other factors about what it thinks you're trying to do. It's less fussy about tire mismatches.

It puts a bigger tyre on the outside rear wheel when you boot it out of a corner.

Or bigger ones on the front in a straight line...

Matched, hiqh-quality tyres and a good alignment are for maximum fun.
