Last year we purchased a 2009 RL with the CMBS option. I have been trying to find out what percentage of 2G RLs had this option, but I don’t think the information is available.

I have an 09 with CMBS, technically 09+ are 2.5G and 05-08 are 2G since there are some serious differences in styling and larger powertrain.

But to answer your question, Probably less than half of the RLs are sold with CMBS and probably most are sold w/ tech package. Then again, I'm just guessing.

 

Very few are sold with the CMBS package since most folks don't see the need for it. When I was looking at RL's, maybe 5-7 out of 300 on cars.com had the CMBS feature

 

My guess was about 5% which would be about 100 cars per year in 2009 and 2010.

I looked for about three months before finding anything close by. Then a local dealer listed three 2009 CPO CMBS vehicles that were “executive” cars from Acura Corporate in Torrance, CA.

The CMBS might not be “needed”, but mine “warned” me 3 times in the 4000 miles we have driven it so far. Once it actually started emergency braking and probably saved me from a crash since it was a multi-car freeway accident. Once was enough to justify the cost – and the Automatic Cruise Control is really cool.

 

I don't have an RL but I like CMBS and think it will be as common as stability control in all cars in the future. I just don't like the PAX feature bundled with it in 06-08 RLs. I'd say only 3-5% of RLs were sold with the option.
CMBS and ventilated seats are 2 features I'd like in my next car.
Only the 09+RL, latest MDXs, and ZDX offer both options (and at a ridiculous price IMO).
