I guess I have never had to. What kind of stain is it? Grease, blood, ketchup, etc. Some details might help because I think this a regular synthetic fabric.

Have you tried the dealer or a detailer. I might be careful of using a solvent unless I knew what the fabric was.

Post in the Wash and Wax--click forum and you'll get answers from detailers.

Lacquer thinner is what we use... just don't use much of it and very lightly rub it across the stain or smudge. It is very strong so don't overdo it.

The headliner is a very nice suede like material, but it is a bear to keep clean, it shows everything (at least in tan). You have to go really easy scrubbing, otherwise you'll damage the material and it will look even worse. I'm not even sure where to start, I think Bob is right -- check the detailing forum.

I have used a little Spot Shot on a cotton towel. Then dab it on the stain several times. If you rub too agressively it damages the material.
