How do you answer the HP question: 290 or 300?

How do you answer the question as to horsepower?

I've got an 06 RL, plainly advertised as 290hp. The 05 is plainly advertised as 300hp (a nice round figure). It would be one thing if it went from 290hp to 272hp, but losing that 300hp rating....

I end up having to say something lame like it is 290hp, but 300hp before they changed the measuring system in 2006.

Do people with 05 RLs answer 300hp (and claim ignorance )?

To make it easy, just say 240 at the wheels.

I tell everyone 290 HP. It's all a mind game. The HP rating is the same, it's just that the new SAE rating was something that Acura was one of the first manufacturers to jump on.

I'm pretty sure this won't be relevant after the typical 4th MY MMC, which for the RL is next MY (2008). I'm hoping for a HP boost, perhaps with the 3.7 l engine of the MDX. We'll see...

The brochure says 300 and so do I. It makes me feel better.

Put in a K&N filter and you'll be at 300+hp.
