Holes in valve cover

I purchased a 2005 RL for my son about 3 months ago... It had a valve cover gasket leak so I took it in to a local shop. When they got in there
The front and rear valve covers both had holes in them around the "sleeves" that surround the COP and plugs. They appear to possibly be arcing holes.
As if the coils "leaked" through to ground ( they appeared to have welding type spatter around the holes). Has any one else seen this on the V-TEC RL engine.
My son also managed to break/ yank off the drivers door interior handle.... is this a weakness in these as well?? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I think this might be a situation where a picture is worth a thousand words....

My son has the same car and it’s loaded with interior flaws. We’ve fixed 3 out of 4 interior door handles, recovered the center armrest and removed the glovebox because it’s rotting and peeling. On the plus side the car runs and drives great! I have a 2013 TL and I did a valve adjustment and noticed my valve covers starting to deteriorate too. I read an Odyssey forum and saw the same rotting valve covers. It doesn’t make sense to me.
