hit the trifecta..

so im drivin down a road right outside of philly... i come up to an intersection and the light turns yellow, so i punch it a little to make the light. it turned red as i was going through. i get about a block past the light and i see the lights go on about 200 yards behind me. i pulled right over knowing he was coming for me for the red light. so he comes up to the car and asks if i knew why he was pulling me over. i said yes sir, i ran the light. he said yeah and i got u doing 52 in a 35. he was obviously on a side street near the light when he first saw me, then came out and saw me run the light. then stupid me had plenty of time to put my seat belt on but didnt even think of it. so then he asked why i wasnt wearing my seat belt. i told him i didnt put it on (i was honest with the guy) he hit me up for the trifecta. speeding ticket, running a red light and no seat belt. FAWK!!! i hate court.. but its my fault. i wasnt paying much attention to my speed but i could agree i was doing about 50. just venting that im an idiot... that is all

Take solace in the fact that the money you will pay in fines will go to support your local police and their efforts to make the world a safer place. Unfortunately, making the world a safer place involves giving tickets to drivers who speed and run red lights.

I ran one by accident I was still pissed about this asshole in an accord riding my ass when I'm just trying to get around a slow car... what makes them think they have an acura? I gunned it cuz I was tired of their shit and I pulled 3-4 car lengths and shut it down at 80 they get pissed and floor it while other drivers stop and are like wtf is wrong with that person? thankfully I didn't get pulled but no one pulls over the crazies

Marc S, I was just kidding with my post. We have all done silly things and had to learn from the lessons that life gives us.

Dang. You really lucked out. Here in Sacramento (or maybe CA in general), Red Light violations are $350.

Damn... here in GA redlight citations are $82.00. Speeding 19 over was only $65 two years ago. (74 in 55 zone that had just went to 55 from 65).

damn man, that sucks. At least you didnt start when it was red.

I will say one thing about the seatbelt thing...I don't get why people don't wear their seatbelts. I am sure if I asked most of those who dont wear their seatbelt if they want to live long and don't want to die and they will say yes but sure enough, there they are doing something silly. Reminds me of smokers. I chuckle at how smokers do their thing then get lung cancer and start crying about how they don't want to die.

Now if the people who do this stuff don't care if they die then hey, that's cool but I find almost ALL of them do and want to live as long as possible.

The speeding ticket will get you about another $272 and the seat belt fine adds another $100. Then you aren't eligible for traffic school which means that you will have at least one citation reported to your insurance which will promptly double.

California has a set of agrsessive driving laws that include running lights and speeding that tack on additional fines.

So, while it is often fun to let loose, you will pay a hefty price.

Ouch...

Yeah, I used to ride without a seatbelt before this car... it bugs me sooooo much if I don't wear it, and also, I've found that I can't use the voice commands without the seatbelt on -- pushing the steering wheel button apparently does nothing when the seatbelt's off.

So, I wear it now. Not a big deal but annoying.

Although I don't understand why people don't wear seatbelts (but that's another topic all together), doesn't it get even more annoying for the voice to keep chiming in and muting your audio every few minutes or whatever then to just wear your seatbelt?

Totally agree that the original poster should really wear his seatbelt out on public roads. But, for me - I live in an apartment complex where I drop off my wife and groceries in the front, and have to drive around the block and through 2 levels of uncovered parking to get to my garage. Wearing a seatbelt as I stroll down to my garage is a PITA, especially when the car keeps "ding-ing".
