I'm glad you're okay. If you carry comprehensive coverage that should cover those damages. Good luck.

If I were in your situation, I would make sure the deer is dead for hitting my car.

In all seriousness, that sucks. Was the hood damaged?

PS: It looks kinda cool like that. Like the devil's hot daughter.

I have to admit that I expected much worse too, looks like you came out better then I did when I hit a possum that demolished my fog light, front bumper and, my A/C

Good luck on the repair.

Deer instantly flew into multiple pieces I dont think he made it out alive, nor do I think it suffered. I am getting it fixed in a day or so I will post repair photos when done. Only thing damaged is the headlight and fender, hood is fine.

What did you hit? ...A fawn? I have hit and been hit by 4 deer (I live in the hill country) and the only one that didn't do more damage than that, I hit her back legs and sent her spinning. 80 MPH?!?!? One ran into me when I was going like 10 mph and did more damage!

I am in no way saying you are wrong or lying. I'm saying you are lucky as hell that's all it did at 80. Surely you just hit his legs. Like others here, I expected a total.

Comprehensive will cover it minus the deductible; I've been down that road too many times. That's a good $1500 repair, at the very minimum I would think.

Glad to hear you are okay. Once there was a person in TX who hit a deer. It flew up on the hood and went through the windshield. As the car sat in the ditch, the deer kicked the guy to death. Really puts a deductible or out of pocket repair in perspective. Good luck, I hope they can put everything back together the same as it was before!

Holy crap! I also expected more damage but I think the best/worse part of this thread is when you said the deer flew away in multiple pieces! :vomit:

Agreed, $1500 if you are lucky. The headlight new is $800+ OEM at discounted dealers. $400 for the fender un-painted. Glad that thing didn't roll up the hood and risk hitting you in the cabin. Definitely could have been worse. Glad everyone (except the deer) is ok.

First and foremost, I'm glad that the OP is okay too. The overpopulation of deer in certain regions of the U.S. is a serious issue so I hope that everyone is vigilant out there!

Secondly, I made the mistake of buying a replacement headlight from the dealer for my '08 RL. It set me back $1,100 or so! What makes matters worse is that I made another mistake today of looking up the prices for discount OEM RL headlights from acurapartswarehouse.com and a few other e-tailers only to confirm that $800 OEM replacement headlights do exist. Excuse me while I bash my head repeatedly into my keyboard..

Good luck on the repair.

Yeah I agree about expecting much worse but am glad you are okay..

I had a similar incident with similar damage as you Heavy_RL. I already bought the foglight off of Delray Acura online but how much did it cost to repair your damage (minus the new foglight)?

Rookie Question.. What is that thing that popped out up and to the left of the foglight.. That popped out when I hit a smaller animal but I was able to pop it back into place with no repercussion. Should I have it repaired anyway when I have the foglight replaced?

What was the total bill to repair your damage DMaz.. It should be an easy comp claim..

You've got Billy Batts in the trunk and had to stop by your mom's house to borrow a knife to cut-off the paw.
