HID HEADLIGHT/Foglight upgrade

Finally installed my HID foglights and to find out they are 6k instead of the 5k I ordered. Now im just going to upgrade my OEM HID to 6k also. anyone here upgraded there OEM HID to anything higher than 4300k?

There is a lot of discussion already on it, but briefly, not recommended. 6k will be dimmer though bluer.

EDIT: check out this thread

^ ur S6 fog conversion is perfect. Did you add a fuse for it or simply tie it into the DRL wiring? Also when you cut the bumper did you end up having to repaint any of the pieces?

Tx.No, I dont add any fuse, just tie to the corner lights. And yes after "WE" cut the bumpers and molded around the S6 lights "WE" repaint front bumper.

the stock 4300k in the low beam just doesnt go well with the 6k in the foglights so i went ahead and ordered some OEM replacement 6k upgrades for the low beam

so the aestethically "brighter" fog lights have greater deciding factor over the functionally brighter low beams?

As long as you fellas don't encounter much actual fog, I think both are neat-looking modifications. However, if one were looking to ensure the fog lights work well in fog, cranking the light temp up into the blues isn't really the way to go.

The difference between 5000k and 6000k is minimal in terms of lumen (light output). Techincally the 5000k is brighter but to the naked eye 6000k will look brighter b/c it is more white with a tint of blue. So you're not going to notice a difference either way.

If you want a high quality low beam HID bulb replacement or HID conversion kit for the fogs check out KAIXEN.

I sorta went the opposite way with our RL.. 3000k in the fogs. They go wonderfully with the 4300k headlights.
