^who is your insurance provider.
maybe letting them know that you were in an accident is the first step

Is progressive and they already know, and they say that the one that cause this chain of accidents is the guilty, but he is gone.

so, let them deal with who covers what.
all you need to do is pay your deductible when the car gets fixed.

^let the insurance company deal with it.
hopefully, you have the required policies to protect you in these cases.

they will sort every thing out and fix your car. all you have to do is pay the deductible of $500 or $1000 which ever one you set it to.
You've done all you can, even providing the police with the plates.

^then that means, you'll be paying for the damages.
even if you did find the "at fault driver" with your liability coverage the insurance company is not obligated to fix your car.

Your coverage has no bearing on his responsibility. He is required by law to carry liability just like the OP, and if you can find him, you (your insurance) can sue the shit out of him to recoop any issues.

OP, this shit really really sucks, and I am sorry that this happened to you. This can be a minor lesson in the value of comprehensive insurance, but it should not have had to happen at the expense of your wife or car. I hope they both have a speedy recovery.

It is possible that because he only carries liability that his insurance would say, "Tough shit, fight it on your own," but that would be a major red flag of a bad company. If they bear any responsibility for damages, they will fight tooth and nail to get the money out of someone else.

If they took your car, they are most likely holding at a daily rate above $100. Your insurance can likely get it pulled to a lot they own for free storage. Otherwise, you need to get it back to your house.

Sorry OP, but if you carry liability only I have no sympathy.
And if you hit the others be prepared to be at fault.
Good luck

OP, I hope everything works out for you. My wife was in a similiar chain reaction accident but luckily she has full coverage and they caught the SOB who took off within 1/2 hour. It was a PITA having to deal w/ insurance, hopitals, lawyer, etc but in the end everything worked out.

OP, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're basically going to be on your own fixing this. Since you only have liability coverage, your insurance company is only liable for damage you cause to other peoples' property. Had you been hit by an insured motorist that held liability coverage his/her insurance company would be paying for the damage to your car. Had you opted for full coverage insurance, your insurance company would be paying for the repairs to your car, minus your deductible, and going after the other guy to get their money back. This is why liability coverage is required in every state in the US and full coverage is not. The government does not care if you are able to pay for damage to your own car, just that if you cause damage to somebody else's property or body they are covered. Considering the driver responsible for the accident was driving a stolen car and fled the seen, I think it's safe to assume they probably do not have insurance. Even if the police catch him the best thing you can hope for is that the courts garnish his wages for restitution once he's out of jail. Unfortunately, it is going to take a long time to repair your luxury sedan with the tiny amount of money they will be able to squeeze out of him.

Not trying to be a jerk but why on earth would you only have liability coverage on your Acura luxury sedan? I'm sure you, and hopefully everybody reading this thread, have learned a very valuable lesson here. Just because you may think you have never been in an accident and are never going to wreck your car, it is no excuse to not carry full coverage insurance on your vehicle. Between uninsured motorists, hit-and-run incidents, and "acts of god" like hail storms, flooding and fires, there are so many things that can happen to your car that may not necessarily be your fault. I have never in my life been at fault for an accident but I have paid for full coverage auto insurance since I was 16 years old. The only reason to ever not have full coverage is if you are driving a car that would cost less to replace than the average deductible. If you cannot afford to pay the extra amount of money for full coverage insurance you probably should not be driving an Acura RL.

Lecture aside, I hope everything works out for you and your wife.

And I said to myself, "Don't go to the 2G RL forum, nothing good came come of that." Yet here I am, reading this crap again.

OP, if you can't replace your ride by writing a check, you should have had full coverage. IE; the car's worth $14,000, if you drive it into the lake and can't afford to buy another one, how would you get around town?

Never opt for liability only on something you can't afford to lose.
