Has anyone done this????

Trade in an 05RL for an 06RL? If so, what was the milaege on your 05 and what did they allow for it, and what was the price of the 06 RL?

All help would be much appreciated.

What changes are in the '06 that could justify the hit that would cost?

You can get the '06 for 41,500 realistically with the factory money on them. For your '05, I'd imagine you would be given a whole lot less, but I have no real data on that other than the fact that there's factory money in the new '06's has to mean that the '05 resale is pretty poor.

Yea thanks Scott...

I've been doing some thinking and i don't think i wanna go that route afterall. Like you said there's no major changes at all to justify taking the loss and paying approx. $150 + more a month. I would like to add a few options though.... all season mats and the wheel wood w/ the wood shift knob. We'll see.

Yeah. Those options will make your car feel newer.

Don't waste the money.

Keep the '05. You are going to lose a lot of money on that trade to an '06--lower price or not.

I have thought about it because my 2005 RL has 54K miles on it. According to Edmunds, I'll take a $2300 whack for the mileage (I can't believe that) with a trade around $33,800.

Considering what I owe, I think I could be in a new car for about the same amount per month.

Can be worth the change

I traded an 05 with about 9k miles for an 06 with the Tech Package. They allowed 37k for the 05. All the bugs that annoyed me on the 05 were worked out on the 06 -- no squeaks, auto headlights don't chime when you leave them in that setting, brakes don't squeal, etc. Additionally, tech package seems to handle a little better and tighter with the PAX tires. Also, the Nav system seems to be much more accurate, so there may have been a problem with the 05.

Paid a little over 46 for the 06 w/tech so the differential wasn't that huge. To me, it was well worth that difference.

Traded today

I traded my 05 for an 06 RL today. The 05 had 34,000 miles in excellent condition. Traded for a difference of ~ $ 7,900.

SERIOUSLY??? How is that possible?

That is one heck of a deal and totally worth it. You drove it for $0.23 per mile.

I am a frequent buyer, having bought the 05 in December 2004. So basically, i kept the car 18 months and traded up to an 06. I am a loyal customer at the Acura Dealership and always trade extremely clean cars back in. I have all my service done at their facility and I keep a personal journal that includes all times I fill the tank with date and mileage. The cars I trade are impecable. (This is my 5th Acura.... I love them. They are the best value in a luxury car hands down.)
