Goodbye RL

I traded my 2008 RL on a brand new Cadillac CTS-V today.

The RL was reliable, quiet, a great highway ride, but I could not resist the horsepower, the 6 speed manual transmission (I traded my M3 to get the RL) and the great ride.

Thanks to all of you on the forum. I will check back every now and then.

Bye for now.

COPYCAT! I was thinking of doing exactly the same thing! Only you actually did it. Lucky bastard. After long thought, I decided to save some $$$ during this economic downturn and chose to supercharge my S2000 instead.

Seriously......Enjoy that 556 hp. I know I would.

Just when I thought I was over the CTS-V.....

*snif*

I'll take a forced induction S2K over any GM product any day.

Awesome car, i've driven a ZO6 vette and can't imagine another 150+ Hp. How long did you have the RL? I expect they hosed you on the trade. Did they discount the V or tack on a dealer surcharge?

He's probably referring to the V1 CTS-V, which had some issues, among them fragile rear differentials.

I just got it, it's not on yet. It will be on at the next warm snap.

used (though blower is basically new) Comptech with aftercooler, with AP2 pulley (adds another pound of boost for my AP1). Previous owner got 291 hp at the wheels with the setup......290 hp + 2850 pound car=

/hijack

It would have been nice to get both hp and four doors in one car...timing just wasn't right for me to buy a CTS-V.

That must have been a hell of a rear-ending to total the car. Hope you're not hurt!

wow!

Enjoy this great car (if you decide to replace it....OUCH)! I am a prior supplier to GM (I had worked for Michelin Tire on the GM acct and called on all of their North American assembly plants for supplier quality).

Did you know the engine for the CTS-V is hand built at a special engine plant in Wixom, Michigan (up until earlier this year also the Lincoln's home city manufacturing plant)? They also build the high-end limited production 'Vette engines at this plant and all of the engine builders are hand selected by GM.

The plant your car was built in (Lansing (Mi) Grand River is one of GM newest and most advanced assembly plants. They also build the STS, CTS, and SRX.

Out of curiosity, what do you think of the Cadi's stick? I had a 2003 CL-S 6 speed and really miss that stick.....I cannot get use to the automatic in the RL.
Is the Cadi's stick as slick as the 556 hp V8?

Damn dude. I wonder what kind of check the insurance company will give you. The RLs market value is not so good. Keep us posted.

RL and yet another testament that the RL is a well-designed tank....gave itself to save you....

After driving the CTS-V I was very disappointed. Three people with deposits on it (one of whom has SEVENTEEN cars) pulled them as well after the Cadillac event.

Cts-v

The stick shift is good, but not up to Honda S2K/BMW standards.

The power is AWESOME. I can't wipe the grin off my face.

As far as refinement, the car is great. A bit louder than the RL and the materials are a bit less in quality, but the drivetrain and the driving fun makes up for it.

Gas mileage, the way I drive, has been only a bit worse than the RL too which is surprising.

Stop, you're making me jealous AND tempted.

Do you have the Recaro seats or are those still on backorder?
NO shifter matches up to Honda manual shifters *biased* , but I wonder if it's possible to mod the CTS-V's to a shorter shift.....and isn't the CTS-V automatic faster anyway?

.....must.....keep.....RL.....another.....year.... at least.....and avoid CTS-V threads.....
