Fuel requirements
A couple of comments about mileage....
I just drove almost 1000 miles yesterday, and have another 400 to go on my trip.
First tank (standard Ohio 93) was 26.1 mpg....and I was driving 80 mph, fully loaded, with the AC on.
really good, I got almost 490 miles out of that tank, a personal record in this car.
Second tank (standard corn country--Illinois--93 octane with 10% ethanol)--shockingly, no drop in mileage, still 26.
Just got the third tank about 100 miles before stopping for the night (now in Kansas.....only 91 available
) Immediate drop in mileage to 25 under same driving circumstances.
So it appears that 10% ethanol has little-no effect on mileage in my unscientific experiment. However, the drop in octane does have a modest effect.
OK, back to my trip now...BTW, this car ROCKS for long trips. Glad we didn't take the Pilot this year.

The term xylene refers to a group of three benzene derivatives which are used as a solvent and in the printing, rubber, and leather industries. Xylene is a colorless, sweet-smelling liquid that is very flammable. Like other solvents, xylene is also used as an inhalant drug for its intoxicating properties.
Because of limited gas availability post Hurricane Ike, I can only get regular here in NC. Have not noticed pre-ignition yet. Sherwin-Williams is located 300 yards from my office. May be putting that carcinogen ring structure stuff in the RL if this fuel situation continues and the RL starts knocking.
