Question Front caliper on rear

I searched and have not found anything on this. I know Civics, Accords etc install the RL caliper with a bracket however, has anyone looked into or know anyone who's looked into installing the front caliper on the rear rotors? Does it look worth it/possible? Anyone have any info on this?

the problem with these caliper swaps is...you're seriously upsetting braking bias.
it takes a lot of math to get the correct sized brakes on..
I call BS on anyone who thinks they stop shorter with some other cars calipers on.

Lol for a minute I though I was reading a post on FB car group lmao. Yes Crab boi is correct for this case 4 pistons vs 2 pistons or single piston.

Don't do it, very little benefit if any, and for other reasons stated above.

It's all about looks as opposed to braking performance. If I wanted superior performance I would simply get a BBK and call it a day but since I have these calipers and they certainly look better than the stock rear, no harm in asking right?!?

That being said it can work but some work, possibly more than its worth, would have to be done . I changed my timing belt/alternator yesterday and took a look at it while I was doing work on the car.

Would definitely throw off the brake bias.

I agree, it would be cool and can definitely but I think it's more work than it's worth tbh. If you can figure out how to deal with the brake bias, I think it can be done.

The front rotors will not fit for a number of reasons:
  • For starters, the font rotors will not fit on the rear, not even freakin' close; this means sticking with the stock rear rotor size.
  • The rotor offset from the inner face of the wheel is more than an half inch deeper on the rear brakes.
  • The rotor diameter on the rear rotors is four-tenths of an inch smaller.
  • I don't have the diameter measurements of the two hats, but typically the hat diameter on the rear rotors is significantly larger due to the need to house the parking brake shoes.
  • A smaller diameter overall size combined with a larger diameter hat means a MUCH thinner friction surface, one so thin the front caliper/brake pad combination wouldn't come anywhere near fitting.
  • Then there is the rotor thickness; the front rotors are nearly a half inch thicker than the rear rotors; try putting rear rotors inside the front calipers, and the pistons will blow right out of the caliper housing.

No, not unless you decide to do without a parking brake.

I did actually and I disregarded because you were pointing out obstacles instead of how to make it work. I find it interesting that youre quick to comment on my understanding and you dont know me. Its attitudes like that that kills forums.

Or it's attitudes like mine which instill a healthy dose of reality so folks don't end up doing dumb things.

If you want a four piston caliper setup at all four corners, there are aftermarket kits which will achieve your goal for (last time I checked) about $2,500.

If its for looks, gut the caliper and put it over the rear one like a cover.

Assuming OEM 17" wheels, there isn't enough space between the outer diameter of the hat and the inner diameter of the wheel rim. That said, I suppose it would be possible to grind down the gutted caliper so clearance can be achieved.
