faint rattle around the steer column?

Does anyone know any solution to this? I can't even pin point where exactly the noise is coming from. It could be from the base of the steering column or somewhere on the dash where the left vent is. It's very faint and it comes and goes, especially when there is a change in momentum (accelerating and braking).... Thanks...

I had ALL of the rattles ...but that's a new one to me. The column covers come off pretty easy... you may want to open them up and see if the noise gets loud enough to pinpoint it.

The night I drove my 2004 TL home I noticed an annoying rattle coming from the steering wheel area. I brought it back and the service department discovered a loose bolt under the dash. It was an easy fix but the entire dash had to be removed.

Hmmm...sounds a bit like what I've been noticing on mine. I'm taking it in for service in the morning. Any bets as to whether they will be able to reproduce it??

The master technician found a loose steering coupling. So far, the faint rattle or clunk seems to be fixed.

Now, the stench of the power steering fluid from the recall work is another matter.

Does anyone's steering column make some clicking noises when you turn the wheel left and right in a fast motion? Like to 2'o clock and back to 10'o clcok, back and forth. I was told by a service advisor awhile ago that it was normal. But I never believed him because I never had that noise before the wood steering wheel was installed.

and of course, I have been living with the infamous shifting area creaking and popping noises for awhile now. Sometimes I am used to it, sometimes not...

I might just have to drop my car off to the dealer and demand ALL noises to be fixed at once...

me too. the 2005 rl i recently purchased has the exactly same annoying rattle, it also has a wood steering wheel too. i assume that a bad wood steering wheel installation cause this rattle. for now, i just have my music so loud every time when i hear those noise. wanna cry! my MID light comes(A123) on, so i hopefully can get it fixed when i bring to dealer.
