Titomang is correct. The "Dual" function is automatic on the '09-'12 climate controls. There is a thread on here about the conversion and how it works.

Thank you, if I am not mistaken you have the KB2 unit in your RL also right?
Yes, I have the unit in my car. I did a DIY on it but can't find it. It's worth the money if you can get it for cheap.

Lol now you said it, I paid $100 for the control module which includes a 2010 radio.

Hmmm... In my 09 this is not the case. I have my AC on auto all the time, but changing my temp does not affect the passenger's. Is there something i'm missing?

Thr only time i've seen these two sync is when i hit the window defrost button.

I just did the swap today and I can confirm this statement above is true.

I though I bought a unit from 2010 but it turn out to be from a 09 RL. I press temp so both side be different but when when I press auto then then trying up and down temp it only change the driver side, the ONLY time i got both of them to sync is when front defroster is on but when press auto they came back to exactly where its before. I am not sure this ONLY happen in the 2009 model and can someone please confirm this? Thanks for the input.

Bumping a bit of an old thread. My bulb went out on my '05 so some of my climate control buttons do not light up anymore. Was always curious about this upgrade as I was aware that the newer models had the upgraded button controls to control the fan but did not know it was LED. It's a bit annoying to go into the screen to adjust the modes etc. Pretty cool that this is plug and play. I think I'll go for this upgrade but had a question concerning the codes.

I was wondering if I would need to obtain a new code if I get a unit off ebay or will all my previous codes still work?

Codes are unique to the units. I'm assuming an Acura dealer can provide you with codes based off the serial number of the radio.

It's a fairly easy unit swap out. Once the outer center console parts out of the way, the two vertical parts on either side of the radio/nav come off. At that point all the screws are exposed to slide it out. As is the case with most OEM, all the units are somewhat lumped together. But the climate control is at the top and easy to unscrew and pull away the wiring harness. Maybe a 60 - 90 minute job if you take your time. Also, you might want to have replacement "bulbs" ready in advance just in case the CCU you pick up already has dead lights on it. You can plug in the new unit, see if it all lights up and if it does just slide it all back in. Or swap the bulbs out while it's all apart. Half the bulbs on my center unit just died, so I will be pulling it apart to replace them before it get's too cold out!

Awesome, this is just what I needed to replace the driver's side climate control bulbs in an 06 RL I just got.

when u replaced the cd player, did u need to reprogram it? I know when u cut power to the unit, it requires a code to listen to the radio .

Hey everyone, I completed this swap late last year and love it. But, I'm curious if this swap could affect my ODB or emissions test in any way? I highly doubt it, but I'm struggling to find the cause of my ODB issues and this is the only change I have made that involved electricity of any kind. At this point I will take any and all suggestions. I may just end up selling it if I can't find a fix, which would be a very sad day since I love my KB1.

Sync doesn’t work

I put the 09-12 temp control in today. Everything works perfectly except the dual/sync control. When I push auto I can only control the driver side. The pax side is controllable from that side but they do not sync. The only way I have found to sync them is manually or to use the voice control. If I say, “set xx temperature” both side will be set at the requested temp.

Correct, you lose the sync capability when you install the new unit. Worth it though, love having manual fan control.

I do appreciate the fan control especially when selecting defog. But I expected to be able to keep the temps synced because the OP ASSURED us that it worked that way. I’m glad the voice control works. I might start using it.
