Extra Wood for Dash area anyone?

Has anyone added extra wood to the dash area of their RL?

I did this for my TL and MDX, but both of those vehicles had very limited "plood"- the fake wood material. It definitely adds some warmth to the interior of those two vehicles.

Our RL has the real maple burly wood and quite a bit of it. Not sure if the extra pieces add much? What do you all think?

Here's a link to one of the companies that sell the stuff with the example:

I think it's a little bit overkill...especially where the HVAC and radio controls are.

I think RL has plenty of wood as is. Perhaps add wooden steering and shift knob if you haven't installed them already.

I think it is a bit much, especially since the areas around the radio and the storage bins are subject to a lot more use, and women's finger nails...

I think someone on here had that, wasn't a perfect match for the oem trim. Get the oem steering wheel and knob, makes a big diff.

I did add this and really like it. Not sure if it is the same mfg as the one you have here but it looks like the same photo. The one I put in was real wood covered in a rubbery plastic material. I did not use the shifter insert or any of the parts for the radio. I like the look of the metal stock pieces there. The match was much better than the shift knob. The plastic pieces on the center console area had scuffs on them within a few weeks after I purchased the car and I could not wipe them off. I have had the wood inserts on for over a year now and it has not scratched at all. I really like the look of the interior in wood, metal and leather. The wood for the cupholder cover and area around the shifter (except the metal part) should have been standard from the factory in my opinion.

One more note on the piece that covered the radio. They put some sort of lettering on the wood, I believe is said "Acura" and a DVD type logo. The lettering on these was not good at all, so even if I wanted the wood to cover the radio I would not have used these peices. Since I did not plan on using these I did really care.

Wood in car interiors is a personal preference thing. I happen to like it, but it's possible to go too far. I personally think the kit pictured takes it too far, and I agree with those who say to just get the shifter knob and wood steering wheel.

One thing to consider is trade-in value, since lots of people don't like it. And if you have leased the car, it may cost you a penalty to add the wood since it's not stock.

To each, his own, but I agree with Mike. The kit takes the wood way too far. I like the tasteful application that is provided stock, and adding the wood steering wheel and shift knob are probably enough.
