Of course I'm having the same issues with my dvd drive that everyone else has complained about. I've tried numerous things to clean it....obviously nothing has worked. Anyway I was looking for a replacement and found that the MDX and TSX uses the same model DVD drive that our car uses however it's $100 cheaper. Has anyone used one from a different vehicle? I assume the MDX maybe the closest spec wise. Any help will be appreciated.

Best bet is to go on the "OEMACURAPARTS" parts like website and check the part numbers and see if they align. To me, there should not be a difference.

We know the 2005-2008 drives all work (although I would pass on a 2005). Why not buy from eBay and save the risk and money?

From what I recall in buying my DVD nav drive on eBay was that the 05's came out earlier than when the factory firmware update was supplied and included on some future White Navigation DVD's. Isn't that the only issue with buying an 05?

For me at least, once I got the 4.31 nav disc OR the firmware update disc, I've been able to use any updated White navigation DVD.

Send it to Alpine for $358 and be done with it for another 10 yrs. Thats what I ended up doing and am pleased with the outcome - they replaced the entire innards of my unit.

Since I opened up my system and tried cleaning I wonder if they would even touch it. But if they were to do I may just go this route.

Yea I've checked there and the part number and prices are differen .

Well I planned on buying from eBay and the newer the better. But the way ebay sells them...they classify the drives as 05-08.

Well two different answers.....I guess the smart money is on sending it to alpine.
