Duration Driving

A few years back I drove from the northeast to the west coast of Fla., which took approx. 24 hours. Total mileage was 1500. The only stops were for coffee and fuel. The car driven was a Toyota Celica. I'm considering doing the same trip in the RL but this time I'll probably get some sleep along the way (preferably in a hotel, and not behind the wheel).

Just curious what the longest non-stop trips people have made in their RL's. Would they do it again?

Yes, definitely will do it again.

I've driven at least once every year to Colorado for 17 years to see my folks. In fact, I did it twice this summer.

1350 miles to destination. I drive 900 miles to Salina, KS (15 hours) the first day, then the remainder the second day. When I was single, I'd do the whole trip in one day as the total driving time is 21 hours.

This is the other reason I go--click

My RL has also been to Boston, Toronto, Louisville, Chicago, and Detroit.

Taken my 06 RL from North Jersey 4.5 hrs to Boston and 4.5 hrs the other way to Washington, DC/ Maryland... only stops were for restroom and soda. As always, this car is a great touring car... very comfy, quiet, and with XM, no need to switch stations. Navi is great also since you have security that you won't get lost. Sometimes I'll just take it on a drive towards PA and try to find some twisties to enjoy the car... just reminds me that I made the right choice...

Drove straight through from Dallas to Chicago (15.5 hours). No problems. I do this round trip at least once a year since 1995. Seats in my RL aren't as good as my '01 SAAB 9-3, but RL is much quieter (attribute it to the noise cancellation technology).
