Drove M35 today. Buying RL

Put money down on an RL, but went to drive an Infiniti M35 to be sure, I make the right choice. To me there was not much of a contest. When I first went into the Infiniti dealer and saw the inside of the M35, I was somewhat impressed. The dealer asked, if I would like to test drive and of course I did. When starting out I immediately, notice that the engine was much noiser then the RL and was not as smooth. I was disappointed but glad. The salesman said it was all wheel drive, but when I went into a curve I felt like I wanted to brake. With the RL I wanted to give it more gas. The RL IMO has a much better ride and felt more refined. TOO many buttons in the M35 and confusing. Even the packages on the M35 are confusing. AT 42.5 for the RL, there was no contest for me. The RL was a much better value not to mention better gas milage. I also own a TSX and am coming out of a 05 TL. I just think the Acrua are just great values. Will see was Acura does for me in 2 more years!

Great Choice! The RL is ultra smooth in all respects. Since you just drove both cars, I'm curious about something. What did you think about the differences in the steering? Many car magazines say the M steering is precise and perfectly weighted, while some (not all) say the RL steering is less precise and overboosted. I don't have an Infiniti dealer within 150 miles of me, so I was not able to compare the cars closely before purchasing.

Good question. I felt the M25 steering was nuetural. The TL feels sort of heavy, but I like the weighted feel. The RL feels lighter than the TL. The RL, if I remember, felt boosted compaired to the TL, but seemed like on a long trip would be less fatiging. I hope this makes sense. I only had two short rides in the RL, but this is what I remember.

Congrats on the new ride - can't argue with such heavy discounts (did you get an '05 or an '06 at this price?).

The new MDX will be out at the end of the year, I hope it will be selling at below Invoice as well.

Don, great to hear about the RL.

I didn't even know you were looking to replace the TL when we talked last time.

Ohhh, I like the Meteor Silver on the RLs and it is a rare color too? Taupe or Ebony interior? What color is your TSX?

I am getting the Taupe interior. The TSx is Milano Red. That was the only way I could get wood grain interior. It was Red or Green. Not a green person, though I like money!

You get the A-Spec package? It makes the ride all the much better, and you want to floor it around every turn to feel it...Sexy doesn't even begin to describe it. Congratulations on the purchase!

Good color combination Dwest1023... I guess it's not as rare as I thought... I just got my RL (Meteor Silver with Taupe interior) about a week and a half ago...

I've gotten so many looks at the car and many people in my office have commented on the color... including my boss and his boss's boss (who drives a MB E320)

I knew I made the right decision! Like you, it was unplanned... I went in to check out the upgrade opportunity and ended up leaving my 04 SSM TL and driving the 06 RL home.

No regrets!!! Absolutely love the car!

I drove the M45 Sport to compare with the RL. Hands down the other way for me. I'd suggest any perspective buyers try it. It has ZERO body roll. I was IMPRESSED. Don't get me wrong, I'm still an Acura fan.

At this price range there are just subtle differences. I did not drive the sport so maybe that one has a different feel, but I Iam sure it was not going to be had at 42.5

but you also drove the m45 sport...

if i was between the m35 sport vs. RL, I would've gotten the RL. The v8 is what sealed the deal for me.

apples to oranges the RL does great against its V6 awd competitors.

I wouldn't think one could get discounts on MDXs or TLs. I get the impression that they are very popular vehicles (see them all over the place). I got my RL for less than what I would be able to get an MDX (MDX MSRP is 44,200).
