Hi everyone, fairly new here... I purchased my '05 RL last November, so just a bit over a year ago. I love it, but I had a problem last night (and this morning).

From inside the car, my driver's side door just won't open. It is unlocked, but won't budge. Both last night and this morning I had to get out the passenger side door. When I walked over to the driver door, it easily popped right open when I pulled the handle. It didn't make a sound like it was unlocking or anything, it just opened. Also, unless I'm completely crazy, this didn't work until AFTER I opened the passenger side door -last night I tried opening the window and pulling the outside handle and that didn't work. I'm wondering if there might be ice in the outside handle or something. We had a snow storm yesterday and it's been very cold (at least by Ohio standards.)

I've already had one problem with the door on the driver's side, last winter. Apparently it's a known issue that the outside door lock sometimes has issues- https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/door-lock-problem-495663/

At any rate, my local dealer fixed it at the time under warranty (bought CPO) and it has been fine for the last year. I'm no longer under that 1 year warranty though, so I'm afraid if this turns out to be a serious issue I'll have to shell out for it.

At any rate, has anyone else had a problem like what I've described? Does anyone have any suggestions for me to fix it? Thanks in advance.

 

Not on this car, but on another Acura, I had the reverse happen. The mechanism from the outside driver door handle to the lock actually broke. My outside door handle was non functional, but the inside door handle worked perfectly. Required a new outside handle mechanism.

 

have u replaced the wire that connects to the door handle? check out cltothetl32's progress thread in the 3g tl section... he had the same problem and theres a part number for replacing that wire. its only like 10 bucks?
