Doors unlock, but will not lock.

I have a 2005 RL. It will unlock with the key fob, the switch inside the car as well as the sensor in the door handles (both driver and passenger). The problem is that it will not lock with any of those methods. It started out failing intermittently and then it quit locking all together.

I would think if it was a fuse it would not have been working intermittently. Any ideas? I will be taking the driver’s side door panel off to get a better look. What should I be looking for? Is there a part that commonly goes bad? Thank you for your help.

Make that two for the actuator. It's a semi-common failure on the RL.

semi-common failure for most cars.

if you think about it, those actuators get used A LOT!
I lock and unlock my car more than once a day.

I bought a driver's side actuator today and installed it. Sadly, it did not fix the problem. When I wiggle the "lock/unlock all" switch on either the drivers side or passenger side, it eventually locks. Then it sometimes works correctly for a while, but a while later, it does not work again. Any other ideas as to what the problem might be?

What about the fob and door handle? If the fob, handle, and switch are all intermittent, then I would have to guess the driver's door MPCS unit is faulty.

Just for shits and giggles, replace fuse 7 in the drivers kick panel with a known good fuse.

Is it just the driver's door or all the doors?

It is all doors, both Key fobs and both switches that are intermittent. Will try fuse 7 in Driver's kick panel.
