doors keep relocking?

I just got my door handles replaced on both sides due to them not working (locking dimple) after it rains or after washing. Now my doors lock when I put it into drive like how I have it set up BUT they continue to lock over and over again randomly while driving. I havent noticed any pattern or time inteerval yet. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have not had this issue, but I would recommend you calling your dealer back and letting them know about the problem.

Usually the first thing to check when the door actuators go squirrly is the key fob battery. If it was only one door then the actuator would be suspect, but where you said doors, it sounds like an intermittent signal causing the problem.

Having said that, I agree that you should re-visit your service dept. and have them check it out.

Don't you think it is kinda weird that this issue started right after he had the door handles replaced? Anything is possible, even a mess up on the wiring, when they did the replacement. Let us know what you find out.

The door locks themselves, are for the most part DC servo motors which operate on a rack to pull, and or push a linkage which activates the door lock mechanism. Some manufactures have also used latching solenoids in place of the servo design, but these have limited stroke and applications.
The number 1 failure mode is the transmitter itself. These transmitters run on batteries, which do need to be replaced form time to time. Since most transmitters have done away with a flashing LED during activation, one does not know the battery is about to go until it no longer works.

But hey, I was just offering a possibility...

Yes - there was a software update to fix a similar problem. Another symptom was that the outside mirror would not reset after tilting from backing up. If you have that symptom as well, its probably the software issue.
Wonder if they somehow reverted the software when installing the new handles?

Good info! My mirror hasn't pivoted to it's original position for months. I havn't thought to have it checked out because it's such a minor annoyance. However, since you mentioned the software update, maybe that will cure it. I just had a service done, but will make a note to mention the mirror next time.

Just make sure that you don't have the mirror selector in the center position because it isn't supposed to move if it isn't pointed right or left.

But the software update on my '05 did fix the random re-locking of the doors and the occasional mirror problem.

Ouch!
Let me re-phrase. My mirror still pivots up and down. It just will not return to the setting I had set for driver 1. It is much lower.
I don't know how software outdates itself, but I did have a door handle replaced. It may have been at the same time the mirror started acting up. Anyway, the software update sounds like the fix for the problem.

It's definitely the software update!

Your dealer will have a TSB on this. It is definitely the software and will be fixed when they apply the software update...

Robarsan....

How many times have I told you? Do not look into the mirror or you will break it.

Satisfied???

Took the car to the dealer and they performed a master reset for the power lock system. I ran the car for about 30 minutes and the doors did not relock.

Do you have any info on this software update? Was it a TSB? I brought my car in for the mirror problem and the service manager said there wasn't any software update that would fix it. They instead, ordered and installed a new mirror. I also had a door handle replaced, just not sure if that's when the mirror problem started.

I think the software update was actually a recall, but I thought it only applied to 2005 model year. It fixed the mirror problem and door locks repeatedly locking while driving.
