Door Unlock problems (when car put in P)

I've setup the computer to automatically unlock all doors when I put the car in Park and when I turn it off. At this point, nothing seems to work. Is anyone else having this issue? Other than that everything is working great.

I'll check the manual, but I seem to recall that these features are customizable by driver. Any chance you set it up with driver #1 remote and then used the #2 remote the next time you got in the car? I may be mistaken on this, will post correction if that is the case.

This happened to me today.

While the car recongized there is a remote near by, allowed the driver door to be opened, and allowed the ignation to be turned on, it did not recognize which driver it was and therefore no customized functions!

I tried to turn on and off the car a few times, but it still didn't recognize the driver.

I finally turned off the car, walked away, came back, and then it recognized my remote being driver #2. The customerized functions appeared.

Why does the car recognize a remote and allow the driver to use the car while it did't recognize which driver? Does it mean that any remote for any RL could be used on any other RL? I hope not.

I just had something similar happen over the weekend...

My RL has been linked for Driver 1 since day one (salesman set it up), and all my settings are programmed accordingly. Also, everytime I get in the car it says "Welcome, Driver 1".

However, I got in the car Saturday after not driving it for a few days and it only said "Welcome". In addition, all my settings had defaulted to original. The screen color was different, XM presets were all set to Channel 1 (Preview Channel) and all doors no longer unlocked when the car was put in Park. I tried to reset the door locks and just kept getting the message that I wasn't a "recognized driver" so I couldn't change the preferences (i.e. door locks, lights, etc.)

I tried pressing the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the key fob simultaneously as outlined in the owner's manual. I could see the LED light blink once to unlink and twice to link, but it still never recognized me as Driver 1.

Since I was running out of options, I finally tried locking and unlocking the doors using the buttons on the key fob (instead of my hand on the door handle) and the car finally re-linked me as Driver 1, and all my original settings were all still there.

Not sure why this glitch happened, or if I did something I'm not even aware of to unlink the remote, but this is how I "relinked" it. Hopefully this will help if anyone runs into a similar problem.

I thought I tried the pressing the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons simultaneously routine, but I didn't observe anything.

To link the remote with the vehicle, press "lock" and "unlock" simultaneously for about 3 seconds. If the red LED light only has 1 long blink, it is unlinked. On the other hand, if the red LED light has 2 quick blinks, it is linked. There was a misprint on Quick Start Guide and Owner's Manual.

I'm setup as driver one and the car "Welcomes" me as Driver 1. However I go in to the settings and set it to P for unlock, and it only unlocks my door, nobody elses.

I'm not near my manual or car, but I seem to remember an "unlock/lock" menu that lets you choose whether the driver's side door is unlocked or all doors are unlocked by the keyless entry system. This setting may also be used by the "shift to park unlock" feature. I have my car set to unlock all doors, and the shift to park unlock feature unlocks all of the doors if I remember correctly.

Yes, to unlock all the doors when "SHIFT TO P", you would have to set the "DOOR LOCK MODE" to "ALL DOORS" (page 97).

Thanks for all your help everyone!!! I'll check to see if I have that setting. (Will check pg. 97 as well. Thanks for the tip.) If it still doesn't work, I'll have to bring it in for service <sniff>.

Ok, door unlock settings are now working. I apparently missed the part previously on page 97.
Thanks again!
