Door lock ? on 05 RL

I'm looking at buying an 05 RL and I had a question for owners. Is there a separate key that comes with the car new besides the two key fobs that can be used on the drivers door? I'm wondering specifically if your battery dies for some reason you will need a way to access the car since the key fobs won't work. Do you have a separate key for this purpose?

Thanks for your help. I've got a 1st Gen RL and hoping to add a 2nd Gen.

There is a key inside the fob.

In addition to the key inside the fob (just press the little button near the top of the fob and it pops out), you can (gently) pry the cover off the ignition switch and use the key to start the car.

I'm not sure I follow what you are saying about the starter key. There is an actual key under the cover? Would this key work on the driver door?

I do appreciate the added info regarding accessing the remote key. I saw that button on the remote, but didn't think to ask what it was for. I had a 07 TL loaner when my 04 TL was in for service work and I recall it had that switchblade key fob also.

The button on the fob ejects the key inside. This key can be used to insert into the steering column ignition (once the paddle cover is removed).

That key also will allow you to lock the glovebox and the rear seat passthrough while giving the remote fob (seperated from the key) to a valet.

got it. Thanks to all replies.

Any TSBs that I should be on the look out for. This 05 was a 11/04 manufacture date. I seem to recall a number of early issue fixes that were out there. Any good way to see what TSBs are open for this car?
