Door handle problems.....I think

Ok so here's the problem. Went to get into the car this yesterday morning. Key fob doesn't work. AWD, VSA warnings come on, lights flash, horn beeps. All the symptoms of the door handle issue. I've been reading for the past day or so and tried everything in the post. I've searched and searched. I have two fuses that are blown: 7.5A - Back up & 20A - ACC socket. Every time I install a new fuse they blow immediately. I've taken the drivers side interior door off and disconnected the handle and still nothing. Any ideas? Let me reiterate. I've read all the other posts and searched and took suggested actions. Thanks guys.

Those to fuses are 7 and 9. All other fuses have been checked and the passenger side door is now off and it smells like something is burnt.

Did you disconnect the passenger door handle? I think it is all on the same system.

I disconnected everything. haha. Still nothing. Is there a reason that number 20 Amp would be blown?

I figured out that if I turn on my head lights then the blinking lights will stop and they will function normally. I'm still getting all of the errors though.

Sounds like you need to dive into the wiring diagram.

If you just want the diagram, go to the garage (sticky thread #2 in the main forum), find the service manual link, go to the last page and download the PDF.

If you want the whole service manual, search "service manual" in the main forum with the "search this forum" tool. Carbon Legen compiled the whole thing into one massive download.

When you get it, the fuses for each system are at the top of the pages. When a wire goes off the page to the right, it goes onto the next one.

I've been through it numerous times but can't get on my computer right now.

Well I think I figured the issue out. I disconnected everything and trouble shot my way using a in the number 7 slot under the dash. I decided to disconnected everything and one by one connect stuff making sure that the amp would not blow. The last thing that I connected was the passenger side door handle. Everything was working smoothly then I could smell something burning. My worst fear. It was the passenger side door handle. Here are the pics. It bubbled up on me in two places.

My passenger never worked as far as keyless entry is concerned. Obviously I have to get a new door handle now. But the install looks fairly straight forward. And for some reason the touch sensor on the driver's side seems more sensitive now. I still believe I have a short somewhere because that 20A fuse keeps blowing.

Yes, yours is not uncommon, although they are supposed to blow the fuse before they start to melt like that.

Got my new door handle today. Install only took about 30 minutes in total. The handle was $213 shipped and it was well worth it. Now I can stop being ashamed of driving around with my melted door handle. Haha
