Did you notice

Got a rental 06 RL from dealer.(ours in the shop). I noticed that the rental has amber turn signals in the rear, and ours does not. I checked the build date and the rental IS an 06, like ours. How come we do not have amber lights. The rental is white and ours is Meteor silver. Does the color make a difference?? Also, on the rental there was no way to select auto dimming for the Navi. Comments???

I believe my rear turn signals flash amber through clear lenses. Do you mean that the lens is amber? Not sure what to say about the NAVI. Unless both of those items are mid year changes or the y gave you an '07

On our 06 there is no clear lens at the bottom. What I mean is our 06 does not have the lens at the bottom at all. This is so strange.

I think this requires a picture. The '06's have a clear portion at the bottom of the main tail light assembly that has an amber bulb in it.

If yours is somehow different, inquiring minds want to know.

Here's mine - show me yours.

You definitely need to post a picture of what you're talking about, dwest. Now I'm curious, too.

You guys might be right, but for the life of me, I do not think I have the clear lens on the bottom and amber turn signals. Can't wait to get the car out of the shop( have the dreaded, driver door handle does not lock with the dimple) and see if maybe I just overlook or our RL is unique. Still I cannot figure why this rental rl does not have auto dimming for the Navi.

If the MID brightness is turned all the way up, the Navi will not auto-dim (according to the manual, YMMV). Try turning the MID brightness down 1 notch from the top and the Navi should auto-dim.

Just checked my car, as I would have SWORN that I had red turn signals... but I don't, they're amber bulbs (non LED, it would seem) in the clear housing at the bottom of the taillight assembly.

Mine's an '06...and you know, I really remember having red turn signals in my '05 -- just never looked when I got my '06.

*shrug*. I hate being BEHIND amber turn signals, but i'm happy to have 'em in my car.

Not, you know, like anyone (besides me) actually USES them in NJ, or anything....

Yep, that was the problem. Was confusing cus the TSX has a setting for auto dim. Plus the Navi will stay bright if you turn the dash lights on high. Solves that mystery. On to the turn signals saga

1 - As previously stated the 05 06 and 07 are the same, your 05 had amber too.
2 - Amber turn signals are safer, more easily recognised and internationally sactioned except for the USA where, as you say, nobody uses turn signals anyway.

If you only want to follow red turn signals then make sure that you are behind a piece of Detroit iron or some other low end models. No high end automobile has red turn signals.

The '04-'06 TL has red turn signals.

Bob

The rental 06 I am driving has amber. I think the one on our RL in the shop is red. This is confusing. Maybe certain colors have red and others have amber???
