At first I couldn't believe it but now I've read it in the manual. The outside mirrors don't dim automatically! How can they possibly justify this? My 5.5 year old S did this just fine! I've gotten spoiled I guess.

 

Outside mirros dim? Actually I have never thought of this - or heard of it. Now that you bring it up, that would have been nice if they did dim!

 

Yeah man most luxury cars that have auto dimming rearviews have auto dimming outside mirrors as well. Kinda silly the RL doesnt have autodimming outsides.

But the outside mirrors have a slight tint to them...not that it's a replacement for auto dimming - I agree, should be there, along with cooled seats.

 

While we are discussing "shoulda's" - I can't believe that the '06 RearCamera is a $500 Option.

 

I know, I would have paid more. Stoked to see them add it.

I find autodimming anything to be a nuisance and a distraction. Definitely something I DON'T want in a driver's car.

Yeah, Acura isn't as smart as Infiniti.

If they were, they would have created a package similar to the Infinity Journey package for $2750 and included lots of other junk.

 

In driving the S for over 5 years there have been only a few occasions where I felt it didn't do the right thing and I got used to not getting blinded by trucks behind me at a traffic light. I like that the RL has the 'power button' for the rearview but it would have been better if it had a slider that allowed darkness adjustment when not automatic. My inlaw's 10 year old Cherokee has that for crying out loud

Now to get rid of that silly green LED in the rearview.

 

I tinted my windows at purchase. That combined with the tint on the mirrors makes it no problem with lights in the side mirrors.
