Deposit given today for an '06 RL
I picked up a used private party RL today. The owner is still waiting on the title, so I will take delivery on December 9th. He's about 170 miles away from chicago. The deal was originally for 35k, but I brought him down to 34.5k due to some scratches on the front and rear bumper. I'll have my bodyshop guy take care of the scratches. The car has only 8k miles and I couldnt pass up on this deal. I almost want to flip it, but I wont. 
Interior is in great condition, few wrinkles on the drivers seat, but not too big of a deal. I may just bring it to a upholstry place and have them steam em out. But again, not that big of a deal the rest of the car is in fine shape. No dings or dents. Looks like no one has sat in the passanger side or rear. Also, he has the all-weather mats included.
So how did I get his car this cheap? The owner is a retiring professor and just wants to pay off the remaining balance. He's 70-75 years old and wanted a quick sale. Brilliant guy, Oxford PhD, tenured, over 300+ publications including a few books; and a few homes. Top theoritician in his field.

Miles: Just hit 8k
Options: all weather mats
Price paid: $34,500
Once I take delivery it will need a full interior and exterior detail. Pics to follow mid-december.

First Congrats man, I know you have been looking awhile. Glad to hear your finally going to get one that meets the budget you set. Price seems good.
You will be getting the same color RL that I got. Lakeshore Silver but I got the taupe interior. The color is great and it takes on many different looks depending on the lighting. In bright sun light it has a slight silver blue/purple in overcast conditions it has a greyish/faint purple. When clean and shiney, it's very pronounced. I have had three or four people in parking lots tell me how much they like the color.

On suggestion, once you take ownership, get a wooden shift knob. It really accents the interior and is more comfortable then the leather.

Congrats on the new RL! You seached probably harder than anyone else I've seen for that car.
