Debadging

I want to debadge my black 05 but am concerned about the paint. Is it going to be a problem with the car being five years old? Also are there any tips or secrets?

Yes it is surprisingly easy, unless it is a badge that has pegs in the back to position it. I think the big "A" badge on the trunk may have pegs that go into pre drilled holes. I have not done it, but I know previous Acuras I have had always had the pegs with the "A" badge.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I was wondering whether the sun would leave a "shadow" where I remove the badge.

I've recently given my RL anonymity and it was surprisingly easy. As Blazing mentioned, dental floss, goo gone took care of most of it for me however I also went to town with an orbital buffer and a minor compound to blend it all in.

also not yet mentioned is a heat gun or hairdryer to soften up the sticky. I do that then floss if necessary (mostly not they just pull off). Alternative to goo gone is Aerosol propelled glass cleaner. Paint is usually fine just less scuffed clear coat

I recently de-badged my 05 with floss and goo gone... there was some residue left but after a good polish it looks great.

It helps to do it on a warm day or use a little heat.

I was thinking the only issue I have seen with removing badges is if a body shop super glued the emblems back on.

Yes I saw this first hand and the paint underneath was not pretty.

I had my new steering wheel installed today along with two new multiplexers, (one in each door). Tomorrow is debadge day! My dealer tech also agreed with everyone here, no problem and he also agreed with your suggested technique. Thanks again!

i took the badges off my accord with a blow dryer. warmed up the badges for a while and they peeled right off. I had to leave the H on the trunk cause they had pegs that fitted into predrilled holes. I have a white car and i took the badges of after about 7 years of having the car. Paint shouldn't be an issue for you. I cleaned off the area where the badges were with some wax and you can't even tell they were ever there.
