"Dealer Services" Shysters

Just received a letter preceded by an email from a company called Dealer Services. They informed me that my factory warranty will be expiring soon??
Actually, I have another 40k miles before my warranty runs out. I called them just to bust their chops. The clown I talked to was pushy and kept asking for a VIN # so he could check my records. In so many words, I told him to stuff it.

Anyone else dealt with this company?

Mod Edit (neuronbob): Title changed to more accurately reflect who is involved

Yea, I just ignore them. I figure they must comb public records or something

From your post, it doesn't sound like it was an Acura dealer that did this. Why did you use that title?

Good point. Just goes to show one shouldn't post messages when they are emotionally charged. It should have said "Dealer shyster". My apologies to Acura (unless they gave that company my name).

I still receive very authentic looking email and snail mail urgently requesting me to act on my warranty extension.

Problem is, they are for vehicles I no longer own, for several years.

These companies masquerade as manufacturer representatives and simply to entice people into buying warranties under somewhat false pretenses.

How many times have you received a mailer mocked up to look like urgent express mail, or a goverment agency? Same premise.

Buyer Beware!

You better change your name real soon, because Acura may sue you for libel

I changed the title of the thread to more accurately reflect the company.

I received one of those messages from "Dealer Services" as well in the last week or two. It went directly into the round file, where it belongs.

Thanks for correcting the title

I initially did throw it away, but as Tampa mentioned, it looked official. They caught me off guard this time, it won't happen again.

Get 'em all the time....sometimes I call them up just for fun, but using another name and from my work phone....fun.
Boy do they get pi$$ed when they find out you're messing with them.

That's the first letter of that type I've received. I must live a sheltered life

Bad timing also; on the way home from work I caught a rock from an 18 wheeler that hit the passenger side of the windshield and left just enough of a mark that it's noticeable. Bad Monday.

It's just like spam. The information is obtained from public records and they mass amil hoping to find one or two suckers. Not unlike getting a letter to refinance your mortgage like the one I received yesterday offering me a "deal" that's a much larger loan with a significantly higher rate than I have, referencing a lender that I haven't had a mortgage with for at least seven years. It has nothing to do with yours or any Acura dealer.

We get them for my wife's Audi.
The last one even had official language, using the appropriate alarming font, on the front of the envelope about various penalties for misuse of the mail!
Ah, the price of freedom.

I've had to deal with these jackasses calling me on my cell phone which is a big no no. They didnt know my name or what I drove, but they said my warranty was going to expire soon...
