Any recommendations on getting the cup holder lid to stay shut....had the car since October lid was working fine just stop closing this weekend.

 

Search the forum for “not an ash tray won’t close”. There is a small latch that needs to be replaced. cigarette lighter same issue.

 

So is the remedy the same for the wooden cup holder lid and the "not an ashtray" coin holder? is it the same latch/ part?

 

It's listed under console in the parts catalog. Pain in the ass to find a quality image of it since there are so many pieces in the console but I THINK this is what you need..

This is the partnumber for the cigarette lighter and not an ash tray. I can’t confirm it’s for the cup holder, but I’d guess it is. The main question is how to get at it and disassemble the lid.

 

I found this piece on ebay -- it was an exact match for the latch that held the cigarette lighter closed. It may be the same piece that holds the cup holder lid closed.
