Cool "finds" and features of the RL (Did you know.... )
After over three years of owning this car, I just found out the front sun visors slide on the rod after removing it from the clip. You can swing the visor to the side window, then pull it backwards toward the B pillar to give you adjustable coverage. If you did not swing it to the side, you could extend it enough to cover the rear view mirror, definitely not recommended, but you could extend it a few inches to cover that annoying gap between the mirror and the edge of the sun visor when in its normal position. I should have picked that up on Page 188 of the OM a few years ago.
While the car is in motion and you shift to up to neutral, there is resistance if you try to push it to the right and attempt to put it in reverse. But once the vehicle comes to a complete stop, you can easily move the lever to the right.
Of course I have tried to force it to the right while it is in motion, just feeling that resistance was enough for me to stop.

Hello RL Owner, I just purchase a back on back 2007 RL w/Tech for $28K (included Tax and Licence fee) and it has only 12K mikes.
I noticed that if you walk out of the car with the FOB while the car is still on, it will beep twice
. And to open the door, you don't have to use the FOB, just pull the the front door handle on eithe side once to unlock the door, and twice to unlock all doors.
Beside the Illuminated trunk opener insde, there is another inside trunk opener next to the sub with the yellow stringer.

Short answer is no. You should be able to find a few threads on the matter, it has been discussed a lot. I also wish the NAV would start automatically if only to enable voice commands (which otherwise will require hitting the button twice).
Holy crap, this thread just helped me a ton. I had no idea there was a secret compartment for the manual. Even the dealership(not Acura) I bought my RL from didn't know about it. They just thought they lost it. Now I got a ton of reading to do :P
I know a lot of people think that this thread is the greatest but I think that it should be limited to items that are not in the manual. If you know how to read this thread then you probably know how to read the manual.
Here's an update that I did and wanted to share. For those of you with a CHL, the compartment for the manual (above the glovebox) makes a great location to temporarly store your firearm. I even used a foam tray liner (dark gray in color and about 1/2" thick) in the upper shelf. I cut out the outline of my pistol so it fits snugly and won't slide around.
I am sure someone already posted this as well but I was not able to read 7 pages tonight - so, if no one mentioned it pretty cool feature is that you cannot lock your key in the trunk. If you leave your key in the trunk, and try to close the trunk it will simply open right back
... man o man - they thought of everything possible on this car

Have had car since buying new in 2005. I have gotten the Trunk Open warnign light before, but yesterday Trunk did not completely latch and I was only a few blocks from home, so I kept driving. After a few seconds, Voice notified me that Trunk was open.
Those two features should be available on every car! I remember we had a Subaru whose rear windows went all the way into the rear doors when rolled down.
I also believe the RL and the Audi A6 are the only two cars in this segment with manual sunshades for the rear passenger windows. Don't think the M35 and new GS have it.

Hey, my UPS truck has number 14! I'm rollin' in style at work! No dual zone solar GPS controled AC tho. Just a big open brown door!
I quoted the wrong thing. I meant the wide opening rear doors. Sometimes I tell my son to just not open the door and let me do it. One time He opened the door of my Mazda into my wife's Pilot as I parked next to her at a parking lot. Doh! At least it only took polishing compound to get rid of that one.
Really? The doors are not that tough to get used to. They made it easier to load up my in-laws when I had my RL. Good feature, I say. Unfortunately, little ones' motor skills control (well, relative lack thereof anyway) would be a challenge for any door.
Oh yeah, and....holy thread revival! This one is an oldie but goodie, though.

I like how when a rear interior light is on, ican turn it off from the front seat by hitting my overhead light button. No need to actually go into the back seat to turn the light off at the source.
On my wife's MDX, if kids turn on a light and fall asleep or are screwing around and won't turn it off....you can only turn it off by clicking the actual light that is on. So you have to go into the back seat to switch it off. If you are driving, you can't turn it off, or the front passenger has to reach back and turn it off.
In the RL, if a rear light is on, you can switch it off from the front seat. Very useful...small feature, but for those of us with kids, that is a great one!

Its actually not a real button. Its "touch technology". You only need to touch it, rather than press it.
You also don't have to touch the "button". The sensor runs the length of the handle, so you can simply brush the back of your hand almost anywhere on the outside of the handle to get a lock.

Here ya go feller:
The "off" button turns the lights off... the picture of the seat with the arrow pointing from the head rests releases the rear head rests.
There is no button to put them up
Seriously? When did they change that? I'm fairly certain that I have to actually touch the dimple.
You are right. I scoped it out a bit more after I got home. Does not work on any part of the handle where you can grab, but if you get near the dimple on the thick part of the handle it does lock.
I have to say with all the cool tech features the RL has, I'm very disappointed that my side mirrors don't fold in electronicly. I had to pull over on the highway and pop them back out cus I forgot to do it prior to leaving work. My 04 audi had this feature and my coworkers 03 Tahoe has this feature why not a $50k car???????
