Code P0305 - HELP
Code P0305 - HELP
In need of a little help fellas..I purchased an 05' RL with 110k, about 2 months ago. At time of purchased had the 105k service performed by a shop that solely work on Hondas/Acuras. They did the timing, water pump, plugs, tranny flush....
Well I started to notice a hiccup when the air was on at a light..so they thought the AC compressor was going out, so took back to shop, but said all was fine, and we needed to see if the car started to give a code. In fact they seemed to think it was in my head..BS
The misfires have progressively gotten worse with intermittent Check Exhaust flashes.. So now we have a full blown P0305, P0300, P0302 code all the time. I have read that it could be an oxygen senor, coil pack, ERG valve, or even some short by the center console... but no code is showing for anything other than the misfire.
The car is misfiring horribly now. To the point of I'm afraid to almost drive to shop. Do you think that it could possibly do with any of the services performed at the 105k, or that this is something completely outside of that. I hesitate to take it to the Acura dealership, but to the point where I am starting to question the shop that did the original work. They seem extremely nice and have been in business a long time, but I want my ride fixed. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Firstly, I would check inside the spark plug tube. (especially cylinder 2 and 5) Are they wet inside? It needs to be completely dry or else, the spark will be grounded to the block instead of the spark plug. I would check if the connectors are snug.
Also when you take out each coil pack, check to see if there's any signs of arcing on it or cracks.
Wish you the best.

Could be water leaking into the combustion chamber from the water pump area, not sure how this is designed if this is even possible. Would start with gradual misfires when cold and go away when warm, and get progressively worse until one day you go to start it and BANG! no more engine, leave the keys inside and walk away! Need to get back to shop ASAP and ask about possible coolant in the engine, although I don't think this can happen from the water pump gasket, usually happens at the intake gasket on some cars. (don't ask how I know, it's still too painful to talk about). It's probably a damaged ignition component, which will be an easy fix, but nothing is cheap. I just don't want to see a destroyed engine because it's not worth fixing on these cars when they get older. Probably over $10K.
Yeah, thanks for the info guys.. I have read way too many possibilities and it seems that the shop is just relying on a code. This is beyond frustrating because all seemed great prior to the 105k service.

GoHawks was right, you need to step back and chill. Cars do not spontaneously combust. You are also right by taking a break today. This site seems to stress you out.

If there were coolant and/or water in the engine, you would see white, and possibly blueish, smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Well turned out to be a "defective spark plug" on #2. All seems fixed free of charge so I am happy. My only question is that I also got misfire code on #5 also, but they said all is fine...not sure on that one. We shall see. Thanks for the replays fellas
